wayward press

We publish limited edition zines, books, posters and other printed matter. We also host workshops on writing, self-publishing and creative autonomy for artists of all ages.

wayward cinema

We screen films and host talks that incite revolutionary collective thought. Recent screenings included Gaza Surf Club, Bacurau, Born in Flames, Neptune Frost and, in collaboration with the Greensboro Revolutionary Socialists, The Big Scary "S" Word.

art+land residencies

We host artists, makers, organizers, and land stewards for weekend- to month-long residencies focused on creative mutual exchange. residencies are tailored to needs and interests of our guests, and often include time for creative practice, rest, land care, collaborative making and critiques. Residents have access to all wayward resources and on-site materials.

wayward games: roleplaying the revolution

We host online and in-person game events that build on ideas of imaginative practice, collective struggle, and queer community.  Our gaming events center the collaborative nature of storytelling and roleplaying.  Past games have included The Quiet Year, Dream Askew, and Dialect: A Game About Language and How it Dies.

wayward believes that community-based political education is essential for building a decolonial, anticapitalist future.

We define political education as an intentional and non-hierarchical practice for the collective processing of radical ideas.

(We define “radical” as Angela Y. Davis does, “grasping things at the root.”)

We believe this work can be done through unconventional approaches that prioritize pleasure and conviviality: storytelling games, movies, and art-making.

wayward’s long-term plans are evershifting, evolving; we are led by community desire.
